Important Notice!!!
The Mississippi River is several feet over flood stage. Several roads in St. Charles County are under water, but the Indian Crossing route has been revised to avoid flooded roads (we will not be
visiting St. Peters or O'Fallon this year).
We are in contact with St. Charles County emergency management. As of now the ride will go on as scheduled. However, more heavy rain is expected on Thursday. A final decision will be made Friday afternoon. Please check back for updates Thursday evening and Friday after 2 p.m.

Tips on
Connecting Flights
to and from St. Louis
Despite my advocacy of other forms of
transportation, the truth is, to get to many interesting place,
you’ll have to fly. And that’s where it gets tricky. Since
the collapse of TWA, St. Louis really hasn’t been an airline
hub city. I could go into a long, boring explanation, but all
you really need to know is that unless you have major cash to
spend, you’ll probably need to take a connecting flight rather
than non-stop.

Safe and
Courteous Group Riding
Cycling with friends, traveling rapidly and
safely with confidence in your companions, is a joy. However,
there is a certain cycling etiquette, or Rules of the Road, of
which you should be aware whenever cycling in a group.

Hostelling
in Tokyo
Located on the 18th and 19th floors of
Iidabashi Central Plaza is Tokyo International Youth Hostel, a
little-known retreat for sojourners to Tokyo traveling on a
tight budget. The two-floor hostel boasts a safe
environment, basic essentials, and a nice view of the Tokyo

What To
Pack When Traveling
When
traveling, your luggage will be your new home during your
trip. Luggage is one of the most important pre-trip choices
you can make. What you pack and packing tips are important as
well.
Packing for Travel
Pack light!
Luggage or Travel Pack?

Low Budget
Travel
Winter seemed like it would never end, but
Gateway Council Board, staff, and volunteers put their time to
good use. Our organizational planning resulted in an activity
season of low budget travel by hiking, biking, canoeing, and
hostelling. Here is a re-cap of what we have done along with
what we hope and plan to do.

May Flowers
Great thanks to everyone who has helped the
organization continue to grow and thrive.
This is always an anxious and challenging time of
year for us, as we prepare for the busy season of April through
September. Much has been done to assure smooth events and an easy
transition to our new office. It’s been a long, cold winter and I, for
one, am more than ready to get outside into the sunshine.
