What is it like to live in your community? That's the question that hostellers often want answered when they travel, because they're interested in how people really live, how they think, and what they do. With the Gateway Council's new "Virtual Community Wall," we're going to give hostellers a taste of what they're looking for here in St. Louis!
The project is part of Hostelling International’s new “Opening Doors, Opening Minds” program, created in response to the events on 9/11.
Hostellers want to learn about American communities from the people who live in them. "Opening Doors, Opening Minds" and our Virtual Community Wall will tell the world what's it like to live in our hometown!
We know that adult hostellers embrace cultural understanding every time they choose to stay in a hostel. Our Virtual Community Wall is a great way for us to help provide those same opportunities for children. The students get to use their creative talents to tell those travelers about what life is like for them living here in St. Louis.
